The Nova 800 performs the solderability test according to NEMA-MW1000. The tester immerses a specimen of magnet wire into the solder pot for a predetermined time. After the test is completed, visual inspection is then performed to determine solderability.
The solder pot assembly is designed to be interchangeable for easy replacement of solder or changing over to other types of solder alloys. An auto-tuning PID temperature controller regulates the solder pot heat output from ambient to 500°C±1°C. The maximum continuous operating temperature of the solder pot is 500°C. Testing of the wire specimen can proceed only when the solder pot temperature is within the NEMA specified temperature range. A polycarbonate
shield over the solder pot aids in operator safety. The electronic digital timer has a range of 0.1 seconds to 99.9 seconds.
